“What are your greatest needs?”

One the most often-asked questions I hear from people is “What are your greatest needs?” As you may have guessed, the answers change throughout the year as the needs of our guests change.  Summer is upon us. And it’s a season which carries its own urgency of needs for the people we serve, one of which is food for families with children.

During the past school year, volunteers prepared more than 2,000 weekend food packs each month, filled every weekend with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food for children to take home from our after school programs and twenty-six other schools in the area. When school is not in session this summer, low-income families will struggle to provide meals for their children. With your support, you will help us provide food so that no child or family goes hungry over the coming summer months.

Another need is employment and job skill training opportunities.  Summer is typically a hard time of year to find a steady job. Our monthly Job Fairs and Forklift Training Classes, as well as new Welding Classes, give people the skills they need for employment.  Hundreds of people have benefited from these programs. Your support will help our guests increase workplace skills, and find better-paying and self-sustaining jobs.

In Matthew 22, Jesus teaches us that one of the greatest commandments is to love our neighbors as ourselves.  Will you help our neighbors with some of their greatest needs this summer? By making a gift today, you are supporting the people we serve through the volunteers and staff who wholeheartedly embrace the needs of the community by sharing Christ’s love. Thank you for your support. From all of us at New Hope, may you enjoy a blessed summer!

Sincerely,
