Small Action, Big Impact

One day this past winter, a young man came to New Hope’s doors. This man particularly caught our attention because he was not dressed well for the frigid weather – he wasn’t wearing a coat or warm clothing.

“Aren’t you cold in this weather?” asked one of our staff members.

“I’m freezing! But I just got out of prison and I don’t own a coat,” he replied.

Our volunteers and staff jumped into action and found him a hat, gloves, and scarf, and gave him gift cards to go buy a coat and other clothes he needed.

What was such a small action on our part made a big impact on this young man. He is now coming to New Hope for help with food and in finding a job.

In Matthew 25 (NIV), Jesus says, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat…I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Will you help the least of these who walk through New Hope’s doors? Over and above feeding the hungry, your gift will make a huge difference in the lives of the thousands of people who turn to us for help. Click here to make an online gift right now.
